AudioScope is a first-of-its-kind interactive audio processor for Android that lets you visually "pick" specific sounds out of a stereo mix. Using a unique 2D mapping of Frequency and Panning, AudioScope transforms audio analysis into an intuitive, tactile experience.
The "Searchlight" Experience
Imagine shining a light into a dark room to find a hidden object. With AudioScope, your finger becomes that light. Move the "Spotlight" across the polar-spectral map to illuminate and extract specific instruments—a vocal in the center, a guitar on the far left, or a subtle hi-hat in the highs.
Extract or Mute with Precision
Whether you’re a musician transcribing a complex part, a producer sampling a clean loop, or a student learning about mix structures, AudioScope gives you the power to:
- EXTRACT: Isolate a specific frequency-panning region to hear every detail.
- MUTE: Mask out unwanted sounds to create your own "minus-one" tracks or cleanup recordings.
- Dual XY Pad Navigation: Master the soundscape using two dedicated XY pads. One pad controls "Pan Position & Width," while the other dials in "Frequency Center & Bandwidth." Seamlessly explore the visualizer's mapped audio space to track down your target sound with pinpoint accuracy.
- Intelligent Area Capture (Flick-to-Target): For an even faster, more intuitive approach than the XY pads, simply flick across the audio visualizer. The app instantly calculates and locks the scope, throwing an immediate "spotlight" on your desired instrument in a fraction of a second.
- Harmonics Filter (Fundamental & Harmonic Isolation): Intelligently analyze the harmonic structure of the audio mix. By verifying fundamental sub-harmonics, AudioScope lets you extract or mask coherent musical pitches along with their overtone series—filtering out unassociated noise and isolated interference. Includes an optional high-frequency (>4kHz) cutoff in EXTRACT mode for surgical clarity.
- Widening Adjust (Energy Binding): When a sound's energy diffuses across the panning or frequency spectrum, AudioScope intelligently binds these surrounding elements proportional to their energy, recognizing them as a single cohesive sound. This advanced processing prevents unwanted reverb or harsh artifacts from outside your scope from bleeding into your isolated audio.
- Independent Edge Smoothing: Dial in independent edge strength for both the Panning and Frequency borders. By creating smooth fades at the boundaries of your scope, this feature mitigates abrupt instrument drop-offs, ensuring a highly musical and natural-sounding transition.
