What if you could design an insect that never existed—and hear it sing?

Cricket Voice Synth is a procedural sound synthesizer, insect sound generator, and 2D soundscape mixer for crickets and wing-stridulating insects.

Instead of looping pre-recorded audio files, it synthesizes insect songs in real time from the biomechanics of stridulation: a scraper (plectrum) striking microscopic teeth on a wing file (pars stridens), exciting resonant membranes known as the harp and mirror.

Place multiple singing insects across an interactive 2D spatial field:
• Real-time stereo panning, distance attenuation, and air absorption.
• Ambient reverberation and proximity slider for near-ear friction.
• Drag insects to position them, or long-press to introduce new callers.
Create anything from a solitary cricket calling in the dark to a dense, multi-layered autumn chorus.
